What will you discover along this route in Alsace?

The Alsace wine route

Cycle the Alsace wine route and immerse yourself in a world where vineyards rub shoulders with picturesque villages. Taste the elegance of Alsace’s grape varieties and enjoy an unforgettable sensory experience.

The Rhone-Rhine Canal

The Rhone-Rhine Canal, a masterpiece of hydraulic engineering inaugurated in the 19th century, winds its way through the Alsatian countryside, offering a peaceful waterway lined with trees, charming locks and a dedicated cycle path.

Rural Alsace

On this route, several farming villages dot the countryside with their rustic character. The half-timbered houses, emblematic of their architecture, add a picturesque touch to the route.

City of Obernai

Obernai boasts a rich historical heritage. Founded in the 7th century, this medieval Alsatian town was shaped by the successive influences of Romans, local lords and, later, Benedictine monks. The pleasant atmosphere and numerous terraces and restaurants offer the opportunity to savor life while refreshing yourself with local delicacies.

Leonardsau Gardens

The Leonardsau gardens, once created by the imperial family of Alsace-Lorraine, reveal an exceptional historical heritage. Extending around the emblematic Leonardsau castle, these gardens recall the refinement of bygone eras. The estate was once owned by the De Dietrich family.

The green way

The “Portes Bonheur, le chemin des carrières” greenway (11 km) is a cycle path that follows the old railroad line from Rosheim to Saint-Nabor. The route is picturesque and peaceful, and all motorized vehicles are prohibited!

Heiligenstein, its “Klevener” and the wine route

Klevener d’Heiligenstein, an exceptional white wine typical of Alsace, is made from the rare Savagnin Rose grape (closely related to Geewurztraminer). Its fame stems from its limited production in the Heiligenstein region, on the Alsace wine route.
